Whatever machine you own the first step is to decide whether you even need to send the machine to us. You may be able to solve the problem yourself. There are a couple of tricks you can try before sending the machine in for repair.
First remove the battery and any removable CD or DVD drive and see if the machine will boot from the mains power, Some laptops will not boot once the battery has failed, if it boots we can help with a replacement battery. If the machine still will not run see if you can borrow a power adaptor from another machine or ask your friendly electrician if they can test it for you. If you are really confident try removing the hard drive and testing to see if the laptop powers.
If your machine starts but hangs, blue screens or runs erratically it could have software or hardware problems. Please contact us for advice.
Once you are sure that your laptop needs repairing please contact us. We can usually give you a guide whether a repair is possible or even viable. Internal components are sometimes unique to a particular manufacturer or even a single model of laptop, we will be able to give you some idea of cost and the availability of spares.
